PAST MONTH'S WORK CASES UNDER SUPERVISION KARITANE HOSPITAL REPORT The work of the past month was reviewed at the monthly meeting of tho committee of the Plunket Society held at Plunket headquarters yesterday morning and presided over by Mrs. J. C. Allan. The report of Miss H. Chapman, nurse in charge, showed that in the pre-natal department 59 new expectant mothers had been seen, and that 418 return visits had been paid to tho department. There were 271 expectant mothers under supervision. In the post-natal department 326 new baby cases had been seen, while 1457 visits had been paid to homes and 11,967 mothers and babies had visited I the various offices. Nine mothcrcraft; talks had been given to outside organisations. The matron of Truby King Karitane Hospital, Miss S. Lusk, reported that 17 mothers and 27 babies had boon admitted in August. Through lank of accommodation it had been necessary to refuse admission in all departments. Tho nurses in training had given the bathing demonstration several times to appreciative audiences. A donation of just over £2 front the Taumarunui branch to the hospital funds was acknowledged. The committee approved the appointment of Miss V. Syers to the permanent staff. It was stated that permission was received from the Department of Internal Affairs for tho raffling of an original signed etching by the late Sir Alfred East, which had been given by Mrs. Alan Donald for this purpose. M rs. Donald, who is convener of the sub-committee, reported progress with preliminary arrangements for the forthcoming photographic exhibition.. Duthie, Mrs. D. Poison and tho matron scwinpr committee, Mrs. A. St. Clair Brown, Mrs. H. O. Wiles, Mrs. A. J. Beck, Mrs. A. Campbell. Mrs. L. C. H. Dawson, Mrs. H. Brewer, Mrs. F. Noakes, Mrs. A. Paykel, Mrs. T. Spry. Mrs. R. M. Webster, The following new members wero welcomed to the meeting:—Mrs. H. Burrell, Mrs. R. H. Clark. Mrs. H. Culpan, Mrs. W. E. Parry and Mrs. E. W. Purdom.

HAMILTON APPEAL GENEROUS RESPONSE As a result of an appeal made by the Hamilton branch of the Plunket Society in the streets of Hamilton recently, £9O was contributed. The sub-branch at Frankton collected an additional £l2. The appeal last year brought in £BO.
