DONATION REFUSED WAIKATO COUNCIL'S ATTITUDE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday When an application for a donation toward the £IOO required to complete the amount needed to proceed with the erection of a Maori hostel in Hamilton was received by the ,Waikato County Council to-day, Mr. R. G. Young said that, while he admitted the humanity of the proposal, lie considered the council had no money to spare for the project. He moved that the request be declined.

The chairman, Mr. J. A. Sampson, pointed out that the council had not made a previous contribution, and he asked Mr. Young if he would agree to a small donation being made. Mr. Young declined, and his motion was carried.
