GUNNERS CHARGED
PAPAKURA- COURTS-MARTIAL DETENTION FOR ONE MAN A,court-martial sat at Papakura military. camp yesterday to hear joint charges against G'unner C. AY. Power and Gunner M. May, both-of the noncommissioned officers' class, Artillery Training Regiment. The charges were that they left their guard on August 10 without orders from tlieir superior officers; and that they broke out of camp on August 10 when their duty rejuired them to be in camp. Lieutenant-Colonel H. C. Glendining, D.5.0., X.Z.S.C., was president of the court, and the ' judge-advocate was Lieutenant-Colonel l'\ L. G. est, V.D. The decision of the court has to be confirmed by the officer convening the court-martial, Colonel X. AY. McP. Weir, X.Z.S.C., officer commanding the northern military district, before it cau b<> promulgated. The sentence of a court-martial which sat last week to hear charges against Gunner W. A. Inkster, of the Artillery Training Regiment; has now. been promulgated. He was charged with absenting himself without leave from June 26 to August 2, escaping from confinement, and again being absent without leave from August 4 to August 20. Sentence of 56 days' detention has been' imposed.
