NINETIETH BIRTHDAY

MISS A. C. THEOBALD RELATIVE OF JOHN CONSTABLE A sister of the late Admiral Charles Theobald, Miss Annie Cecelia Theobald, an old resident of Hamilton, celebrated her 90th birthday on Saturday. Miss Theobald is the sixth daughter of the late Bev. J. M. Theobald and was born at Mark's Toy Vicarage, near Colchester. She is a grandniece of John Constable, the noted landscape painter. Miss Theobald came to New Zealand in 1910 and settled at Kaikoura, but moved to Hamilton a few years later. Her brother, then a midshipman on H.M.S. Esk, saw service in the Maori War. He became the youngest captain in the British Navy and later lie held the rank of admiral. Miss Theobald still takes an active interest in local and world affairs. She Teads aloud to her sister, Mrs. F. Brooke, who is three years'her junior and whose eyesight is failing.
