BEGINNING THE DAY
(Supplied by the Council of Christian Congregations) Text. —Thus saith the Lord, Stand vg in the ways and look, and ask for the ancient paths. Where is the good svay? And walk ye therein, and ,\e shall find vest for your souls. Jeremiah, 6, 16. Verso.— In a sorvico which Thy Will appoints There aro no bonds for me; My inmost heart is taught the truth That makes Thy children freo A life of self-renouncing lovo Is ono of liberty. Prayer.—o Lord, whose condescension has made us great, grant to us the virtue of humility. Purge from our hearts all pride and self-conceit. Mutild our characters until we resemble Him, Who was meek and lowly of heart, and Who stooped to wash His disciples' feet. Thou dost resist the World and give grace to tho humble. May it bo our aim and ambition to walk humbly with our God. From all unhappy desire to be great, good Lord deliver us. May we be content to fill a little space if Thou art glorified.-May our love of Thee display itself in lovely acts of service to Thy children. Thus may wo do Thy will and benefit those around us. For Jesus Christ's dear sake. Amen.
