FOREST HILLS, Sept. 9 Miss Helen Jacobs reached the final of the women's singles tennis championship by beating Miss M. Hardwick, 2—6. ft — Miss Hardwick had previously defeated Miss B e t z 5—7, g—i, g—2. In the other semifinal Miss Alice Marble beat Miss Scott, G —3, 6 —3. Riggs defeated Schrocder, o—l, 2—o, o—3,0 —3, G —l, and Hunt beat Kovacs, 6—i, o—l,0 —1, o—>l. Riggs entered the finals by boating taunt, 4 —G. G—3, 5—7 o—3, o—4. In tho other semi-final McNeill defeated Kramer. o—l,0 —1, 5—7, o—4, o—4. The United States Lawn Tennis Association has reinstated G-. Mako and L. Sabin, to be effective from December 1. Both were suspended early in 1940 wiion they violated a. playing rule.
