PAY OF SHEARERS
RATES FIXED FOR SEASON [BV TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON. Friday A special committee under the shearers and shed hands' award lias fixed the following rates of pay for the coming season: —Shearing by machine, not less than £1 10s 0(1 a hundred, with rations; shearing by hand, not less than £1 13s a hundred, with rations. Where shearers find thoir own rations an allowance of 4s a day shall he paid. For stud sheep and hogget rams, the pay will be ordinary rate and a-half; other rains, double the ordii.ray rate. The rates of pay for other workers are:—Pressors, £4 10s Gd a week, or 2s oiti an hour; all other shed hands, £4 0s Gd a week, or 2s 3Jd an hour; cooks (where cooking for 12 men or under), £5 0s 6d, or 19s 3d a day for less than seven days. Where more than 12 men have to be catered for, the rate shall he increased by 2s 6d a we u k for each additional man. Where the number exceeds 18, an assistant cook must be employed, and for over 28 men the rate is to be fixed by mutual' agreement. Cooks' assistants will receive £4 5s 6d a week, or 16s 2d a day if less than seven days. Special rates foi work after noon on Saturday aiv:—Pressors, 2s Old an hour; shed hands, Is 10d an hour.
