HARD OF HEARING
OVER 100 STUDENTS
AUCKLAND LEAGUE'S WORK ELECTION OF OFFICERS A satisfactory review of last year's work was given in the report presented at the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the League for the Hard of Hearing this week. Mrs. D. W. Dunlop presided. The group hearing aid, a machine bought last year, was in evidence at the meeting, many of the hard of hearing students present being able to follow proceedings by this means.
The report stated that jis there were now over 100 students in the lip-read-ing classes and as the recreational and physical culture activities for the younger people were being well-at-tended, it was felt that the league was doing very valuable work in the community. The students not only helped themselves to overcome their serious handicap in life, but also had been most energetic in helping with patriotic work. Many knitted articles and over 14 dozen well-filled hussifs had been contributed to the Patriotic Society, and a sewing circle for the Lady Galwav Patriotic Guild had also been formed.
