OFFER TO GOVERNMENT [BT TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] "WELLINGTON, Thursday The offer of the Hermitage, Mount Cook, two hotels at Queenstown and its transport and staff for use for war purposes has been made to tho Government by the Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Company, Limited. The offer is being considered by tho Government. "We could transport and accommodate and arrange for back country accommodation for a large number of women and children in tho case of an emergency arising and their having to bo evacuated from the coast," tho company's letter stated. "The hotels could be used as hostels and convalescent homes for those returning from overseas, but not seriously -wounded." Another suggestion made by the company was that if a general evacuation from England was made, it could accommodate . a large number of people.
