BUSINESSMAN'S DEATH

MR. DAVID DUNCAN PROMINENT FREEMASON The death lias occurred of; a well* known city business man, Mr. David Duncan, a director of John Chambers and Son Limited, "who had been secretary of the company for about 35 years. Born in Scotland, Mr. Duncan came to New Zealand over 40 years ago,. He was a fellow of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and also of the Australasian Institute of Secretaries. He was for a number of years a member of the board of managers of St. David's Presbyterian Church, and was auditor for the church up to the time of his death. Rowing wa3 among his outdoor interests, and he was vice-commodore of St. George's Rowing Club. Mr. Duncan was actively associated with Freemasonry for the greater part of his life, and last February he was installed as First Grand Principal of the Royal Arch Masons of New Zealand. In addition to holding high rank in other branches of Freemasonrvf he was a Past Grand Treasurer of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a married daughter. The funeral will- take place at the Waikumete crematorium this afternoon, when a church service will be followed by a Masonic service.
