REFUGEE CHILDREN
Sir, —As one of the many interested in refugee children, I would like to see a fair proportion of women taking their rightful x>lace —wherever children are concerned—on the committees appointed or to be appointed to deal with the organisation for transport, homes and welfare of these children. Those women trained and experienced in organisation in dealing with large numbers of children may here be found again of service. On such committees their help would be valuable. Mrs. Wilson's suggestion of community homes is good. In California the system used to be homes to house a dozen orphans with one matron to each home. It worked better than crowding children as we do, for all were more individually cared for and they were happy. That was the orphanage system planned out by Mother Cark.
