TOC H ENTERPRISE MEN ON LEAVE IN CITY EVERY FACILITY PROVIDED One of the most appreciated of the services provided for men on leave in Auckland is the Toe H Servicemen's Club at 59 Customs Street East. Here men of the Army, Navy and Air Force are provided with every facility for passing their spare time in the city in pleasant and comfortable surroundings. Open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m., the club is catering forthe needs of a large number of men of the services each day and will continue to do so for tiie duration of the war. Well-furnished with easy-chairs, settees and tables, .the main lounge i$ equipped with *fl\piano, gramophone, radio set, writing materials, newspapers and periodicals, .and a variety of games. A canteen operated by the* League of Women Helpers and tithe* voluntary workers provides refreshments and light meals There is also a games room, provided with a full-sized and "a sized table for billiards and snookepf ping-pong and bagatelle tables. This room also has a radio set-, while clein towels, shoe-cleaning apparatus and' a left-luggage room further cater fonrtfre needs of men visiting the city A sinesong is held every Sunday evening The club is controlled by Toe H assisted by other bodies, with thj'* aid of financial grants from patriotic funds and from organisations in the city. Where possible it arranges private week-end accommodation for men on leave who have nowhere to stay in Auckland. Its aim is to create a homelike atmosphere for' the men. and in this it is proving remarkablv successful.
