HAY LEFT TO ROT
.'SIMPLE REMEDY AVAILABLE '[bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] GISBORNE, Monday Claims that tons of cut hay in the district were lying rotting in the paddocks because iron was not available to cover it were made by farmers at a meeting of the Wairoa Primary Production Council. Mr. A. T. Carroll said that in sheer desperation he had resorted to the use' of raupo as a covering, and lie had been able to save the whole of his hay. Mr. G. F. L. Hudson said that he had been'asked to inspect ailing cows in the district, and on inspection he found' that the trouble was caused by feeding mouldy hay to them. He suggested that the Native Department and other organisations interested should be asked to seo that there was no repetition of what had been experienced this year, and this course was agreed to.
