LOCKRAY TRIUMPHS AGAIN [FROM OUR OWN COIIRESPONnKXT] SYDNEY, May 14 No doubt ovents ol suprome importance overseas affected tho attendance at Randwick last Saturday, tho pntronago being nearly 10,000 less than that at the last previous meeting and bookmakers reported a substantial drop in wagering. Howcvor, tho success of well-supported horses was marked. Lockruy confirmed his form of a fortnight earlier by ploughing through Iho mud successfully in the James Barnes Plate. About a month ago the connections of Lockruy decided to spell the chestnut. There was no suitable grazing available and it was agreed to keep him in work. Tho cliango of plans netted about £IOOO in stakes and somo profitable wagers. G. Price won tho Bprint event with Denis, a consistent five-year-old by Denis Boy, and who has been very profitable in tho last few months. Price took Mr. E. J. Watts Mildura, The Squiro, Waireka and Corolla to Brisbane. Mildura, won at wcight-for-ago, but tho others failed. . Gloaming's old rider, G. Young, is not in the news frequently theso days, but. his charge, Thunderclap, won in a way which suggested further successes. He is only a three-year-old, so it is rcasonablo to expect him to improvo.
