MONTE CKISTO WINS JEWELLED GIRDLE AGAIN BRAZEN BOLD SUCCESSFUL BY ARCHER On the strength of his fourth on the first day, Monte Cristo was made an each-way favourite for the first division ol the G'ordnnton l-lack Handicap, and lie duly won, finishing solidly after handily placed throughout. To Haka, Huni-a-Soiijj; and Valerian were rpiickly in the lead, and tliev came into tho straight abreast, just in front of Lord .Ace, Akanora and .Monte Cristo, who were almost in line ahead of Rose -Acre. Near the distance, Monte Cristo moved up on the outside, and lie stayed on to win by three-quarters of a length irom Lord Ace. Hose Aero, who secured a good run through on the rails, was a length away third, and Hum-a-Song was fourth, ahead of Loch Acre, Akanora and Valerian. Monte Cristo was well handled by C. G. Gonlsbro. r Field Outclassed Tho Waikato Plato was run in heavy rain and tho second fancy, Tologa, ridden by Mr. j\. JMcK. Duncan, mailo a onc-horsc nice of it. The going was very bad when the Hamilton Hurdles was' run, and tho good mudlark Jewelled Girdle, in spite of his rise of 101b. for winning on tho first day, had no difficulty in scoring again. Holme Fell set a solid paco that had the field strung out early, and before reaching the stands ho was out six lengths from Lapidarian, with another six lengths to Jewelled Girdlo and Streamlino, and then Goncral Ruso and Inness Lad. Holino Fell was beaten at the end of a mile, and Lapidarian was left in front from Jewelled Girdle and Streamline. Crossing the top, Jewelled Girdlo ran to tho front and ho led info tho straight from Lapidarian. Inness Lad and General Ruse. Nothing had a chanco with Jewelled Girdle at tho finish, and ho drew away to win by eight lengths from Inness Lad, who defeated General Ruso by four lengths. Streamline was fourth, followed by Lapidarian, Very Glad, Agog and Devon. Aussie l?a appeared unsuitcd by the Koiiik and was never dangerous. Loombination and Holnio Fell finished a long way back. Silver Quex Easily Relishing the heavy going, tho each-way favourite Silver Quex registered an easy win in tho Tc Rapa Handicap. Silver Quex was quickly in front, and was joined at tho homo turn by Valmint, the pair being just clear of Bronzo Moth, Calorie, Requiem and Day Wind. Once in lino for tho post Silver Quex drew clear, and sho won easily by two lengths from Calorie, who. ran on solidly. Sunny Downs also came homo well to be a neck away third, with Valmint fourth. Then followed Day Wind, Foxscn, Bronzo Moth, Royal Appellant, Kena-and Rcquietnl Calorio paid over a score for a place, and Sunny Downs also mado a good return. Tho second fancy Kena was never dangerous. Valmint and Bronze Moth both had every chanco, but weakened in the straight. Giving a fine display of jumping, tho second fancy All Irish won the Waikato Steeplechaso practically from end to end. Enjoyment was with All Irish at tho end of the first round, but ho fell at Hie post and rails before turning into the back, and All Irish was left clear. All Irish led over tho sodwall into the straight from Simint, Dauber and Biform, and he more than held liis own to win by 12 lengths from Biform, who beat Dauber by six lengths. London was fourth, just beating Simint on the post. Fat Boy fell at the first fence and continued riderless until reaching the jump in front of tho public stand, where ho swerved across tho field and brouprht down Mahala, who was noinjx well.
