ARRIVAL IN EGYPT
LOCAL CHAPLAIN'S WIFE News has been received of the safe arrival in Egypt, after a journey by air, of Mrs. G. A. D. Spence, of Parnell, whose husband is the Presbyterian chaplain now with the New Zealand forces in Egypt. Mrs. Spence is living at Maadi, and writes that she has been arranging to take 12 New Zealand soldiers at a tiiu* to tea in Cairo, and is thus getting them. "Socks seem to be tlioir greatest need so l'ar as handwork is concerned," Mrs. Spence says. "The last parcels got in duty free, which makes it worth while sending almost anything to eat, as well as cigarettes and magazines." To those who want to knit for the soldiers Mrs. Spence advises the knitting of socks, and says that with the summer coming 011 the men cannot have too many.
