Hall, 109. MATCHES IN COUNTRY [from herald correspondents] Pukekobe.—Over 70 entries were received for a patriotic tournament held by the Puke- ! kohe Golf Club at tho week-end. In the 30- ! holes gross competition, J. Alexander (Manu- ; kau) aud JJ Niccol (Pukekohe) tied with I 79-81 and 7S-S2, Alexander being the winner on the count-back. McGowan (Pukekohe) won the 36-holes event with a net card of 137. A Stableford contest was won by C. Wright (Pukekohe), with 137. McGowan and C. Walter (Pukekohe) won a four-ball bestball Dogey event with a score of 8 up. Tho following players have qualified for tho Howo and Weston trophy:—-F. Wharfo, 72 net; M. R. Grierson, 73: McNaught, J. Wright, G. Basham, 74: J. Niccol, P. Mills. BullockWebster, 75: Foote. Robson, McGowan, H. Home, 77; C. Lawrle, 70; Moore, G. Home, 80. Junior players to qualify for the committeo trophy are as follows:—C. Wright. Hamilton, Willis, Taylor, Hickling, Digglo, McDowall, Roso, Saddleton, Oldham, Seeley, Slevin. Papakura Ladies.—The first round for the captain's trophy was won by Mrs. W. Mathison, with a card of 105, 33 —72. Miss J. Thickett, with a scoro of 108, 31—77, was runner-up. Palm Springs.—The captain's prize competition was continued, when the following matches were decided:—Ladies: Mrs. Leigh won by default; Miss Landon beat Miss Barker, 9 and 8; Miss Russell beat Miss Capstick, 0 and 8; Mrs. Mellsop won by default.. Men: J. McCormick boat A. Adams, 3 and 1; E. H. Burton beat J. Brotherton, 4 and 2; E T. Hayne beat I. Rossiter, 2 aud 1. Manukau Ladies. —The winner of Mrs. Parker's trophy was Mrs. G. Brebner, with a score of 4 down. Members will compete in tho first round of the handicap matchplay contest for Mrs. F. Yates' trophy tomorrow and Saturday. Whau Valley.—F. Uffendill, with a score of 34 points, won the Stableford bogey match played at the week-end. Other good scores were: M. Dallas, 33 points; R. Quinlan, 33; A. S. Hcape, 32; J. Connell, 32. ft a challenge match for the club buttons J. R. Bailey and 0. Georgeson beat F. Taine and A. Manson. 3 and 2. Whau Valley Ladies.—ln the sealed partner competition Mrs. Going, 75, and Mrs. Davis, 80, total 155, were the winners. Other good scores were: Mrs. Snow, BG, and Miss Hawken, 71, 157; Mrs. Franklin, 72, and Mrs. McMillan, 88, 160. The best scores in the qualifying round for the Wakelin Cup competition were:—Miss Hawken, 98, 27 —71; Mrs. Franklin, 103, 31—72; Mrs. Going. 98, 23—75; Mri Davis, 104, 24—80. Cambridge.—A four-ball best-ball match played in conjunction with the second round ! of the Caldwell Cup competition resulted in a win for A. H. Nicoll and I. F. Fairbrother with a score of 6 up. The second round of the Caldwell Cup competition resulted as follows: —J. H. Broch beat G. W. Allen, 4 and 3; D. McCathie beat A. Clayton, 1 up; A. J. Caro won from F. C. Rogers by default; E. Morrice brat C. Haworth. 3 and 2. In the second round of the consolation handicap results were:—D. E. Creed beat C. H. White, 4 and 2; R. Boucher beat I. Fairbrother. 3 and 1; E. J. F. Kennedy beat E. Nickle, 3 and 2: V. C. Hollis boat R. Ireland, 3 and 1. Walhi.—The first bogey match for the Club Cup resulted in a win for I. T. Grant with a card of all square. C. Tilly, 1 down, C. E. Hollis, 2 down, and R. Clark, M. Haszard, W. H. Stannton and D. Meikle, 3 down, were the best of the • others.
