SHIP SURGEON'S DEATH
DR. J. S. HUDSON The death of Dr. .7. S. Hudson, a ship's surgeon for the Shaw, Savil] and Albion Company, occurred suddenly in Auckland yesterday. Dr. Hudson,- who was 66, came ashore from a vessel recently .and entered a private hospital. Dr. Hudson visited Auckland last year in the Tainui. During the Great War he saw service in the front lino with the Royal Army Medical Corps and later was in charge of one of the hospital barges conveying wounded down the canals from the trenches to coa:!it hospitals. Alter the war lie served as 11 major with the Army of Occupation in Cologne, where his knowledge of German proved of great value.' After retiring from the Army Dr. Hudson served as a ship's surgeon on the run from London to South America. His home was in London. He is survived by his wife and daughter. The funeral will leave the Mariners' Chapel, Hailsey Street, to-morrow for Waikumel;e Cemetery.
