BETTING LEGISLATION
STATE OF NEW YORK BOOKMAKERS OUTLAWED (Received April p.m.) NEW YORK. April 1 The Governor of New York. Mr. Fi. 11. Lehman, signed a bill legalising pari mutuel betting and outlawing bookmakers throughout the State. It is estimated that the yield will be o,000.1)00 dollars of revenue annually. The bill gives effect to the Constitutional amendment approved last year. It provides for a tax of JO per cent on all bets, equal proportions going to the State and the racing associations.
