TAURANGA INTERESTS
A da nee wns recently hold in honour of members of the second echelon, ,Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, at Taurangn. A committee of ladies, headed by the Mayoress, Mrs. L. 11. Wilkinson, assisted hv Mrs. Hobinson, arranged the function. Speeches wore made by the Mayor, and Mr. F. W. Doidge, M.P. for Tnurnnga, and each guest of honour received the gift of a wallet of notes. A decision to combine the various circles of the Taurangn Lyceum Club under the name of the Patriotic Amalgamated Circles was reached at ft recent meeting. Members of the combined circles will carry out patriotio work of various kinds. Miss Tlarty, of Fra/.er Streot. has returned from three months' stay nt Wellington and Timnru. Mrs. S. P. Girdwood, of Edgecombo Road, is visiting Whangarei. Dr. Margaret Knight and Miss Nnncv Knight, of Auckland, arc at Mount Mnunganui. Miss L. Uruce, of- Selwyn Street, lias left to spend the winter in Auckland. Miss A. Povnter, of Morris Street, has left to tako up an appointment at tho Patea Hospital.
