PASCOE CUP COMPETITION PRESENTATION OF TROPHY Tho untiring efforts of the management committee in ensuring the success of the competition were commented upon by Mr. F. McAnency at the annual lunch of tho Pascoe Cup Tennis Association at the Milno and Choyce tearooms yesterday. Mr. McAnene.v explained thai, owing to play being held up on account of rain, tho committee's task was harder than in previous years. "Although the gate takings showed a drop 011 those of last year, it has been decided to make a small contribution to patriotic work," stated Mr. McAncney. In presenting tho cup to Dalgety and Company's team, Mr. J. Pascoe, patron of the association and donor of the trophies, romarked upon tho firio spirit in which the tournament had been played, and the high standard revealed. He congratulated both the winning team and the runner-up, Post Office Savings Bank, on their fino performances. Prior to tho commencement of the lunch members stood in silenco as a mark of respect to the late Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. .1. Savage. The winning team comprised J. Brough (captain), J. Vickerman, E. Eliott and M. Laird. Also present were Mr. S. A.. Cleal, president of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, and Mr. R. Porter, secretary of the association.
