CONTROL BOARD MEETS CLUBS' STRENGTH DEPLETED TEAMS FROM THE SERVICES Although enlistments would deplete the playing strength of several, of the clubs, the promotion of promising juniors gave promise of a successful season, said Mr. L. Munro after his election as chairman of the Auckland Football Association at the control board meeting last evening. While there was every possibility that some clubs might have to amalgamate, the inclusion of teams from the military services would materially assist in maintaining a lively interest in the competitions. The senior division committee reported that it had decided to call for entries for the higher grades up to April 9. This was confirmed by the hoard. A letter of thanks for the congratulatory message sent by the association was received from Captain \V. E. Parry on behalf of tho officers and ship's company of H.M.S. Achilles. Mr. H. H. A. Kenui, a member of the New Zealand Council, ivas present and conveyed the greetings of the council and hopes for a successful season. The chairman intimated that, in a further interview with Mr. G. Szekany, who has an imposing European record in coaching and physical training methods, the latter had expressed his desire to assist the code in any capacity in which his sorvices could be utilised. It was agreed to appoint him official coach to tho association. Both tho Ponsomby and Thistle clubs applied for training nights on Blandford Park. These applications wore granted subject to approval of dates by tho ground supervisor. The election of tho various officers resulted as follows: —Chairman, Mr. L. Mimro; vicechairman. Mr. H. Gribble; secretary-treasurer, Mr. W. Harrison; finance committee, Messrs. L. Munro, H. Gribble, W. Cole, A. E. Caisioy and the secretary: advertising committee, Messrs. J. V. White. F. (!. Fullbrook. .1. C. Sibbin; grounds and fixtures representative, Mr. J. V. White; emergency committee, Messrs. L. vMiniro, C. (!. Ballantyne, W. Cole; teams' steward, Mr. F. G. Fullbrook; Blandford Park committee, Messrs. L. Munro, W. Cole and secretary; Blandford Park supervisor, Mr. W. Cole; junior management committee representative, Mr. J. C. Sibbin; entertainment committee, Messrs. F, H. Baker, C. F. Ward, A. E. Insley, W. Walker.
