SOUTH AFRICAN OPEN A. D. LOCKE WINS AGAIN CAPETOWN, March 25 Bobby Locke won the South African open golf championship for the fifth time, and fourth successive year, with an aggregate of 293. S. Boshoff 303 and B. Thomas 309 were next. A. D. Locke was born at Germiston, Transvaal, South Africa, on November 20, 1917. As an amateur Locke won the South African boys' championship at the age of 14. He was successful in the South African open and amateur championships in 1935, 1936 and 1937 and the Lucifer Empire tournament and the Irish open championship in 1936. After turning professional in 1938, Locke won the South African open and professional titles, and the Irish and New Zealand open championships. Last year he won the South African open by 26 strokes, with the record score of 265, his rounds being 66, 69, 66, 64. He was alfeo successful in the Dutch open and, although he was not particularly prominent in the British open, he was undefeated in challenge matches against a number of leading British professionals.
