[by telegraph—own correspondent] CHKISTCHURCH, Tuesday In exhibition swimming at the University contests at Christchurch, C. Cliff, of Christchurch, broke his own New Zealand record for 100 metres backstroke by 1 3-ss. His time was lm. .11 l-ss.' He- also reduced the Canterbury 400 metres backstroke ro' cord by 3s.
