MAN DENIES CHARGE
YOUNG WOMAN'S TESTIMONY An incident alleged to have occurred in the vestibule of a city building on February 29 was referred to in the Police Court yesterday, when Clifford Douglas Keane, farm labourer, married, aged 24 (Mr. Wills'), pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing an indecent act intending to insult or offend a young married woman. Complainant said accused spoke_ to her in the street, and followed her into the building. To free herself from hini she agreed to meet him later, and in the meantime she advised the police. Detective Mahood said he saw coinplain ant keop the appointment with accused, who ran away when he recognised witness. When captured accused asked to be given "_a break, and denied insulting complainant, saying he would not do such_ a thing as he was only recently married. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for trial, Mr. il. n. Levien. S.M., granting bail of £oo.
