COAL DISPUTE
AUSTRALIAN UNIONS ULTIMATUM EXPIRES / NO IMMEDIATE STRIKE By Telegraph—-Press Association— Copyright (Received February 20, 10.44 p.m.} SYDNEY, Feb. 20 Although the coalminers' ultimatum lor a general strike expires to--1 day, there will bp no immediate stoppage of work. A special meeting of delegates representing all the mining unions will he held at the week-end to decide (he date for aggregate meetings of mine workers at which the strike decision will be considered. A report from Newcastle to-day says a straight-out motion in favour of a general strike will almost certainly be rejected bv the rank and file. The Prime Minister, Mr. Mcnzies, reaffirmed the Government s decision not to intervene in the dispute. It will insist that the Arbitration Court's awards and decisions shall ho observed.
