REJECTED APPLICATIONS

Sir, —Whatever virtues business firms and employers of labour of New Zealand may have, one certainly is not thoughtfulness and courtesy for others. It has been the writer's misfortune to seek employment. Countless advertisements have been answered, and tho matter of postage has frequently been a real sacrifice and matter of concern. With an anxiety that only an unemployed man knows, the daily visits of the postman have been awaited, but out of literally dozens and dozens of advertisements answered, only about two firms have had the courtesy to acknowledge. Do these employers realise tho worry and anxiety that gnaws at the heart of many of the applicants? They should remember that a polite refusal is at least something definite. Unemployed.
