PLEA FOR EXTENSION The following resolution aimed at an extension of the 40-hour week was passed at a meeting of the employees of the Otahuhu railway workshops held held yesterday: —"That this meeting, being fully appreciative of the 40-hour week, pledges itself to refrain from doing Saturday morning shopping as an endeavour to have the 40-hour week made possible to other branches of industry and that the Government be pressed to amend the Shops and Offices Act to a 40-hour live-day week."-.
