BURNS ANNIVERSARY
The 181st anniversary of the birth of the Scottish poet Robert Burns was honoured by the Otahuhu Caledonian Society, which held its annual Burns dinner in the Otahuhu * Public Hall. Mr. A. W. Stewart, the chief, welcomed a good attendance of members and representatives of all the kindred societies in Auckland and district.
The main toast, "The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns," was proposed by Mr. R. Alland, who gave an address on the poet's life and works. Vocal and musical items were contributed by Miss Scott, of Clevedon, Messrs. Brodie and Peters, of Auckland, and Miss Peters. An exhibition of Highland dancing was given by Miss Nodder, of Auckland, and piping selections were played by Messrs. S. Paget and L. Amor.
