15,000-Mile Tour of 17 Countries

SMALL CAR WELL BRANDED PLANNING to visit 46 different countries after he left Auckland some months ago, an Auckland motorist, Mr. E. V. C. Dalton, had his tour drastically curtailed on the outbreak of war. He actually left Germany the night before the war started, and he has returned to Auckland, having visited 17 countries and travelled 15,000 miles. From New Zealand Mr. Dalton made for the Continent, and on entering each new country he would have its name boldly painted oil his car. Further, he made it his duty to obtain the badges of motor organisations wherever he went, with the result that the front of his car is now more than liberally decorated with all manner of metal, emblems.

Mr. Dalton was driving the. latest model Austin 10 horse-power saloon, a picture of which appears on this p;ige. It gave him reliable service, and when landed from the ship in Auckland the car, except for its worldly labels, appeared as though it had just returned from a Sunday run.
