DIES. T. G. MARLON GOOD HEALTH ENJOYED INTEREST IN CURRENT AFFAIRS Still remarkably active and alert Mrs. T. G. Marlow, of 15 Wilding Avenue, Epsom, will celebrate her 102 nd ljirtliday to-morrow. Her full and interesting life spans back to the year in which Queen Victoria came to the Throne, so that she has lived through the reigns of four Sovereigns and into that of a fifth. Mrs. Marlow was born in London on November 19, 1837, and came to New Zealand in 1865. In the following year she married the late Mr. Marlow, the ceremony being performed in Dunedin by the Rev. Dr. Stewart, of Knox Church. Move to the North After working for various warehouse firms in Dunedin, Mr. Marlow secured Similar employment in Auckland, and they moved north in 1881. Later Mr. and Mrs. Marlow were engaged in farming for 10 years on a 1000-acre block at Katikati. Then followed a period of 20 years, during which Mr. Marlow was on the clerical staff of the Waihi Gold Mining Company at Waikino. He was well past 80 years when ho retired, and he died in February, 1930, aged 92. Although she lias suffered occasional illness in recent years, Mrs. Marlow has been in excellent health for the past 12 months. She is sometimes taken on outings to various parts of the city. Only a few days ago she inspected the rose garden at Parnell Park. Memories oi Many Wars Many wars figure in Mrs. Marlow's long memory, and she is sorry that another lias broken out. News of the progress of the war and of other happenings she closely follows in the daily newspapers, and she is especially interested in the welfare of the soldiers. In addition to the newspapers, Mrs. Marlow reads books constantly, she continues to knit and sew, and occasionally writes a letter to an old friend. A gathering to celebrate her birthday will be held on Monday, when a number of friends and relatives will be present. There will be a birthday cake inscribed "102 Years."
