WORLD'S CHAMPIONSHIP RETURN OF THE TROPHY The world's ISft championship ci\p, won by the Auckland yacht Mann last February, and taken to' Sydney by the Taree's crew pending a decision on protest, will arrive in Auckland by the next steamer from Sydney. Mr. G. M. Dennes. chairman of the InterDominion Yacht Racing Committee, who was mainly responsible for the contest beinfc held on the Waitemata, has been in communication with the New South Wales 18-Footers' Sailing League, owners of the cut), on the question of its return to Auckland, and received a letter from the secretary of the league yesterday stating that the cup would now be sent back to Auckland. Taree, the Sydney boat, won the final race of the contest and was leariins on points, but a protest was lodged against Taree by Limerick, alleging a breach of tlie rules at the start. This was decided against Taree, wtiose skipper appealed against the sailing committee's decision. Taree's appeal, after a long delay, was not allowed, and Manu was declared the winner.
Manu is an 18ft M class boat owned by Messrs. Chamberlin and Goodfellow Brothers, and represented the Richmond Yacht Club in the contest.
It is the intention of the Inter-Dominion yacht Racing Committee to present tho cup. cash prizes and champion flap to the Mann at the clnbrooms of the Tainaki Yacht Club on Saturday, December IG.
