WRESTLING FUNCTION
PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES PROSPECTS FOR NEXT SEASON ■"Eveir though hostilities may not have ceased by next year, the association will mako every, endeavour to carry on with professional matches," stated Mr. C. D. McCready, at the annual dinner of the Auckland Wrestling Association held last night. "We shall secure most of the matnien from the United States, and already we have received advice from such wrestlers as Jim Londos, present world's champion. Lee WykofT, Karl McCready, Chief Thunderbird, Pat Fraley, Bhu Finder and Kay Steele, intimating that they are prepared to visit New Zealand next year." Mr. McCready stated that Earl McCready, the British Empire heavy-weight champion, was at present in America seeking a world's title bout. He thought it most likely that McCready would have to meet Lee Wykoff before he secured a championchip contest. The . possibility of a junior professional championship being staged before Christmas was mentioned by Mr. McCready. This championship would be decided between such wrestlers as Kenneth, Douglas. Maich, r.nd visitors front the southern centres. Photos and blazers were presented to the Auckland provincial champions, .'titer which the following trophies were presented:—Zecbrudgec Shield, for the gamcst. wrestler at the Auckland championships. A. Dormer; Ball Cup, for the most scientific wrestler, C. SemmeU: Franklin Memorial Shield, featherweight champion, T. Hayman.
