UNITY OF EMPIRE
POLITICS ABANDONED Paying his first visit to England for 33 years, the Hon. .T. Pvan, M.L.C., of New South Wales, recently found conditions vastly changed from those he left in 1900. He is now visiting New Zealand for the first time in five years, accompanied by Mrs. Pyan and their daughter. The unity of the Empire on tin? outbreak of war made one proud to be British, said Mr. Pyan. Political factions were immediately sunk, and he was impressed by the fact that Mr. Attlee, Leader of the British Parliamentary Labour Party, was as ardent a statesman as Mr. Chamberlain. " The success of tho British answer to the submarine menace was revealed by the fact that we saw none on the trip across the Atlantic," continued Mr. Pyan.
