FOOD FOR BRITAIN

ORGANISATION PRAISED NEW ZEALANDERS' POSITIONS Praise for the organisation of food supply and distribution in England, introduced on the outbreak of war, was expressed by Mr. G. A. Duncan, of Wellington, director of export marketing, who has returned after six months' absence abroad. His visit to England was associated with the work of the Primary Products Marketing Department, and ho will shortly submit a report on his work to the Government. Mr. Duncan referred to the appointment of a number of New Zealanders by the British Government to positions in control of sections of the wartime food supply organisation. Prominent among them were Mr. H. E. Davis and Mr. J. W. Hodden, daily produce; Mr. 11. S. Forsyth, meat; and Mr. F. S. Arthur, wool. "The prompt response of the Dominions to place themselves at the side of Britain on tho outbreak of war created a marked and favourable impression in London and throughout England," said Mr. Duncan. "I, too, was tremendously impressed with the steadfastness of tho British people, the extent of the preparations to meet the war conditions, and tho rapid strengthening of the armed forces," Mr. Duncan, accompanied by Mrs. Duncan, left for Wellington by the limited express last night.
