METHODIST CHURCH
DISTRICT SYNOD OPENED CANDIDATES FOR MINISTRY The annual synod of the Auckland district of the Methodist Church of New Zealand was opened yesterday in tho Pitt Street Church, the llev. F. Copcland, chairman of tho district, presiding. Further sessions will bo held today and to-morrow. Tho Revs. G. E. Beckingsale and ,T. S. Willoughby were recommended to tho conference in February for ordination. Divinity students, Messrs. J. B. Dawson, H'. C. Dixon, L. 11. M. Gilmore, L. Grecnslado and M. Winiata, who have completed tho three years' course, wero put on probation, while two candidates for the ministry, Messrs. E. Grounds and A. 0. Jones, were recommended to the conference to bo accepted for theological training.
