DEGREE EXAMINATIONS
COMMENCEMENT TO-DAY FACILITIES FOR SOLDIERS .. The annual degree an a diploma examinations of the University of.. New. Zealand will begin at Auckland University College io-day and will be con- ; tinued until November 17. In future the opening date will always be the fourth Monday of October instead of November 1 as in the past. It is estimated tbat the number of candidates sitting locally will be much, the same as last year, when about 1700 . presented themselves. The chief, supervisor, the Rev. A. J. Greenwood, will have a staff of over 50 assisting him. in the conduct of the examinations. 1" meet the case of who have.; gone into camp since the outbreak of war special facilities are being given by. the military authorities to enable them to sit. The university is doing all I>° s " sible to meet their circumstances, and it is anticipated that in the great majority of cases the men will present themselves at the examination centre nearest to their camp. In all cases they will be required to present their officia code number for purposes of identification.
