Epsom yesterday of several visiting horses stimulated interest'in the Auckland.Trotting Club's Spring Meeting, to be held 011 Saturday and Monday. Trainers who arrived were W. Heginbothani from "\Vaverley with Redmond's Pride and ;p 0 Reske, F. Scrimgeour from Palmerfeton North with Air Pilot, and ,J. Flanagan from Otaki with Black Native. ;P Tho four visitors are in great heart, although the Australian-bred trotter Redmond's pride lightened'up a little on the trip. In spito of advancing years, Black Native looks none tho worse for a good deal of racing last., soasion. when, lie recorded a win and four placings. I|is second to Within in the Members' Handicap in May was costly, as bo gavo away four seconds to start. Ho is entered in the four trotting races at tho meeting. - Air' Pilot- was-, not raced a great deal last season, but, sifter two placed efforts, succeeded- in scoring at his last start in the "Royal Handicap at tho Auckland winter meeting- Air Pilot, who is by Native King, is from Tamaliuie. who won trotting races for Mr. J. The visiting horses will be worked this morning, when the outside of tho course proper will be available. Auckland and provincial stables are solidly represented, and. bs many of the-,horses raced at the August meeting and at ifntt Park last month, they are in forward condition, rF. J, Smith and M. Stewart, who shnred the training honours last season in tho North Island with 'J 5 wins each, have good teams engaged, with good representatives clashing in nearly every/race. Smith's candidates on Saturday are Wilbur's Heiress, Artist's Gem, Kewpie's Jewel. Sandusky, Nell Volo, Josedale Grattan. Francisco, Nervie's Last and Ironside. Josedale Grattan ami Francisco were winners at the August meeting and both should perform well. Stewart is represented by Wishful, Tsnna, Bed Flush. Worthy Merit, Tinker Molly Direct and Policy, and also l>y Revision, who is engaged' in the second division of the Improvers' Handicap 011 Monday.
