NORTH AUCKLAND WOMEN PLANTING OF POTATOES [by TKI.Kf.'I'.AI'H OWN COItIIKSI'ONDENT] KAIKOHE. Thursday Both Maori and pakoha women at Kaikohe are working together planting potatoes for patriotic purposes. Their activities are being carried out under the direction of the Kaikohe branch of the Red Cross Society, which is in charge of the emergency work in the district.
One acre of ground already has been sowed and another is being sown. The ground and farming instruments have been loaned and the seed donated, while more land will be acquired for sowing various other kinds of necessary vegetables. It is planned to erect a shop in Kaikohe for the benefit of the Red Cross funds and in it will be sold all kinds of donated goods and produce.
