CLUBROOM FOR SOLDIERS
Si r ,—] do not live in Auckland so mavb'e there are schemes of which I know nothing, but I do urgently appen for a club-house for the men on coastal defence duty, so that when they have a few hours' leave they need not parade the streets, or have to search for somewhere to rest. A young man on coastal defence duty may have given np his job and also given np his lodgings. He comes off dutv tired and would irnivbG like a sleep or some relaxation, also a home-like meal, a telephone, a place to write or road. My own son is m this position at present and 1K several hundred miles away. What are the Auckland men and women doine about this urgent problem, which should bo a matter for the authorities and all who have the soldiers' welfare at heart? Aucklanders! Please safeguard our lads. ' ' Mother.
