HOSPITAL POSTS

PROTEST. MADE TO BOARD TAKAPUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL An emphatic protest against the decision to abolish the posts at the Auckland Hospital held by Dr. C. R. Burns and Mr. J- M. Clark wa3 forwarded to the Auckland Hospital Board last night by the Takapuna Borough Council. The council stated that as it contributed by levy toward the administration of the board, it contended that the very best hospital treatment should be available to its residents and therefore regarded it as a duty to make such a protest. After a long discussion, in which several members objected to the part played by the Mayor of Takapuna, Mr. J. Guineven, it was decided to adopt the following resolution: —"That the Auckland Hospital Board is assured that the letter does not represent the considered opinion of the people of the borough and therefore decides not to receive it. believing it is a direct attempt by a minority to dictate to the board on matters of policy and administration in the public hospital without having the full facts before them. This is considered to be an infringement of the courtesy due from one board to another elected on the same franchise and respected by all other local bodies not only in the wide hospital board district but throughout the Dominion." The motion was carried on tho casting vote of the chairman.
