SHOOTING ACCIDENT

BUSHMAN CRITICALLY HURT TARGET PRACTICE WITH RIFLE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] OHAKUNE, Monday A bushman, Mr. Jack Groves, agedabont 30, single, of Rangataua, was accidentally shot in the jaw yesterday afternoon while practising target shooting with a pea-rifle. Several men at the camp were practising shooting and Mr. Groves, after adjusting the target, camo from behind a building just as one man fired. The bullet shattered Mr. Groves' jaw and lodged in his throat. He was rushed to the Raetihi Hospital in a critical condition. Tho injured man was later transferred to tho Taumarunui Public Hospital, where his condition to-night was reported to bo serious.
