LAMBING LOSSES
NORTHERN WAIROA FARMS EFFECT OF COLD WEATHER [llY TKMCfiIt A PIT —OWN CORKESI'ONDKNT] DARGAVITiLE, Monday Lambing in the Northern Wairoa district is at its height, and according to several farmers, the number of lambs born exceeds tho average. This is due in many cases to an unusual number of twins. Losses, however, have been considerable, owing to the cold weather. One farmer stated that ho had never before scon as many twin lambs as bad boon born on his farm this season. His percentage was the highest on record until' recently, when bitterly cold weather and heavy hail storms caused many deaths. The farmer also expressed the opinion that feed shortage would alfect the rearing of lambs. There had been little growth during the past few weeks. XJnless the weather improved, losses would probably be fairly severe*
