NEW PLYMOUTH HORSES CYNICAL, JACK SCHOOLED RED SAND LOOKING BRIGHT [by telegraph—owx correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday Good efforts by several of the horses engaged at the combined meeting of the Egmont-Wanganui and the Taranaki Hunt- Clubs were recorded at New Plymouth this morning. The trial grass was available and, although slowafter recent rain, was in good order. Noble Fox and Red Sand hit out freely over half a mile in 535. Red Sand is looking bright after her spell. Gold Card completed a round of pace work by 'running the last two furlongs in 27 l-ss. Liberal's Mint was going better than Killing Lady at the conclusion of half a mile in 53 4-os. Liberal's Mint appreciates the sting but of the ground. Karere-Nui, who worked attractively, ran away from Young Charles at the end of half a mile in 545.

Golden Hind, by Myosotis—Martial Lady, and Lulu Lady, by FoxbridgeLadv Lulu, ran two furlongs in 26 2-ss. Golden Hind is an attractive mof er. High Test led Nereus in the early part of six furlongs, but Nereus beat him by over a length, running the last five in 1.7/ Nereus worked attractively. ' i Civio Reception covered a" circuit, running the last five furlongs 'in 1.12. Eupatrid.and Minority sprinted up the straight.

Morris were quickly through their tasks. La Bru, Ecstatic and Laughing Lass sprinted three furlongs. Ecstatic should not take long to reach racing condition. L. Knapp's horses were given pace work. Beaupartir and Conveyer kept together during a three-furlong sprint, completed in 425. Conveyer is fit and should be worth keeping in mind. The best of . him: has not been seen. Amyas Leigh and the half-sister, by Gascony, to Sudan worked attractively over the same ground.' Sporting Gift and Israel ran the last two of throe furlongs well in 27 3-ss.

Tlio fastest three-furlong trial was registered by Sceptre and Laughing Chief, who recorded 40 2-os without much effort. Sudan, who moved well in recording 53s for half a mile, should not be long in reaching form. Over live furlongs, Catalogue's time was 1.10,, this being, equalled bv Quadroon and Old Bill. Florence Mills and Old Bill are to race at Wanganui. Fauvette and Renascor took 1.11. Raeburn and Earl Colossus cut out the distance in 1.9 2-5. The former is steadily improving and is likely to have liis next race at Wangaiiui. Great Legion was never extended in requiring 1.14 2-5. Girl Pat and Parian did not put on speed until they wero halfway, down the straight. Golden Ridge pulled hard and after covering three furlongs in good time, he was steadied to finish six furlongs in 1.27. Colonel Bogey ran down the straight. Ruaform and Sunbeam' strode over five furlongs. Caution and Dimcannon; were allotted three furlongs. The latter is booked to race at New Plymouth.
