HARRIER RACING

UNIVERSITY: TITLE CROSS-COUNTRY CONTEST ANNUAL EVENT IN AUCKLAND The New Zealand University crosscountry championship will be decided at . Auckland to-morrow. A 10,000 metres course has been selected, commencing from Mount Roskill School and embracing a fair amount of fairly firm field with some level stretches of road and many fences.

The event this year promises to be of more than ordinary interest. Last year the individual winner was Scrymgeour, of Wellington, with Kofoed, of Auckland, second. Since then Scrimgeour has established a Now Zealand University record for three miles, and Kofoed an Auckland University record for the same distance. The duel between the pair is likely to attract attention. With Kofoed, greatly improved, running on his home course, he will start favourite. Foord, of Otago, and Adamson, of Canterbury, third and fourth last year, are suffering from injuries and neither will compete. Also running for the Auckland collego will bo E. Stephenson, a former New Zealand University champion, and E. It. Collins. B. Harden, W. Chappell and M. McKeirao make up the remainder .of Auckland' team. Otago holds the Dixon trophy for first place, with Auckland runncrs-up. This year, Auckland has excellent prospects.
