LOKD GAIiWAY'S VISIT CAY IN ANCIENT CAPITAL , GIFTS FROM THE NATIVES SUVA, Aug. 5 The Governor-General of New Zealand, Viscount Galway, and Viscountess if Galway yesterday visited the island of Bau~, the ancient Fijian capital, where ..they were entertained with traditional ! native ceremony. : In the Council House, built on tho site of the old heathen temple, ceremonial presentations were made, which included a whale's tooth, always pre-
sented to persons of rank, a root of / kava, followed by the ceremonial of the making and drinking of kava. In with custom a large presentation of food was made. After a native
luncheon the visitors were entertained by native dancing. This morning Their Excellencies left on a toufr of Viti Levu, including visits to the Tavua goldfields, as the guests
of . Mr. E. G. Theodore, Ba and Lau■f toka. They will return to Suva on Monl day. _ .
