PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE
MEETING AT NORTHCOTE WORK FOR MENTAL HOSPITALS The sum of £l9 10s was raised for the provision of Christmas comforts for returned soldier patients in the mental hospitals and shelters at the bring and buy stall held at the monthly meeting of the Northcote Women's Progressive Leaguo. Tho president, Mrs. W. E. Carter, presided over a large attendance of members and friends. Mrs. I. Muirhead donated to the stall a beautiful etching which realised £4 12s while a donation of coal from Mr. W. Ward brought in £8 3s. An address was given by tho Roy. S. L. Boot on his recent travels in England. The local convener of the Wilson Home Auxiliary, Mrs. Archie Campbell, advised that the Northcote collection for the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary and Community Sunshine Association, amounted to £l7 8s 9d. Half of this amount will be donated to the Wilson Home through the Northcote Branch. Appreciation of the work of the collectors was expresed by Mrs. Carter. Mrs. P. Howden was nominated delegate for the Pan-Pacific Conference which is to bo held at Wellington in January 1910. Members passed a vote of sympathy to the relatives of the late Mrs. E. S. Larkin.
