SEVERE STORMS
AUSTRALIAN WATERS FISHING LAUNCH MISSING SYDNEY, June 27 After the worst storm the liner Oronsay has experienced in Australian waters sinco she entered the trade in 1925, she reached Fremantlo to-day with many visible signs of the severe buffeting she received in the Groat Australian Bight between Adelaide and Perth. Ventilators were stripped from the forecastle head, railings were twisted and the forepeak flooded. Parts of the crew's quarters wero awash. Grave fears are held for the safety of Messrs. V. Carmotly, aged 38, and Edward Butler, 35, who left Newcastle in a launch for a morning's fishing and failed to return last night. A westerly gale was blowing off the coast all day.
Gales and storms in the Tasman were encountered by the Awatea, which was delayed about an hour, and the Wanganella, which will arrive about five hours late.
