LYCEUM CLUB ENTERTAINS TE PUKE VISITORS WELCOMED There was a pleasant gathering at the Tauranga Lyceum Club this week, when the members of the bridge circle entertained players from the Te Puke Lyceum Club. The guests were received by the president. Mrs. Norman Green, who .also presented the prizes. The winners were Miss Janiieson, Mrs. John Auld, Airs. Vercoe, Mrs. E. D. Richards, Mrs. W. S. Holland and Airs. Carpenter. On behalf of the Te Puke Club; Mrs. Wilson thanked the Tauranga members for their hospitality. The annual meeting of the Tauranga Croquet Club was held in the pavilion last week. The president, Mrs. C. F. Washer, presided over a large number of members. In appreciation of her services during the past seven years, the retiring secretary, Airs. W. Cross, was presented by Mrs. Washer, on behalf of the members, with si coffee stand. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Airs. T. Hall; president, Airs. C. F. Washer; vice-presi-dents, Airs. T. Harvey and Mrs. C. Cowie; honorary secretary, Mrs. 11. Lewis; match committee, Mrs. C. Gerrard (captain), Airs. R. Buxton and Mrs. W. Andrews; general committee, Airs. R. Buxton, Mrs. W. Andrews, Airs. Cowie, Airs. Peppercorn and Mrs. McLaughlin. Airs. W. L. Cowie, of Southland, is spending an extended holiday in Tauranga, and is the guest of Airs. C. Cowie, Ninth Avenue,

Mrs. A. G. Macara, of Devonport Road, Tauranga, will leave by the Wanganella to-day on a visit to Australia.

Miss Alice Partridge, of Christchureh, is spending Llio winter in Tauranga, and is the guest of Mrs. Lyall Wills, Eraser Street.

Mrs. R. Crawford and Miss Pats Crawford, of Gisborne, who were visiting Tauranga for the races, have returned homo. "■

Mrs. Owen Deacon, of Robert Street, Tauranga, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs. W. Yerran, Bayswater.

Mrs. F. \Y. Do id L r ,c. Second Avenue, Taurantia, lias accompanied her husband, Mr. I'\ W. Doidge, M.P., to Wellington, where she will stay during the Parliamentary session.
