ROTORUA BRANCH RALLY UNIVERSAL MILITARY SERVICE [Ut TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] ROTORUA, Friday Nearly 500 were present at a rally of the Rotorua branch of the National Party when the chief speakers wore Mr, V. ft. Goosman, member for Waikato, and Mr. J.'M. Allen, member for Hanraki. Mr. H. W. Nixon, chairman of the Rotorua electoral committee, presided. 'Mr. Allen, while supporting the appeal made by the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, for enlistments in the territorial forces, considered that this did Jiot go far enough and said the National Pajtv • strongly favoured a system of Universal service. 1 Mr. Goosman contended that the P'larnnteed price system for dairy produce had failed. He said it was a good thing for the country that the Government had not fulfilled its promises toade in 15)35 that guaranteed prices ttould be applied to all classes of prim®ry production. He made an appeal to the people to realise that the present difficulties with wljich the Dominion *as faced were due to the extravagant expenditure by the, Government over we past three years and too hastily Conceived legislation.
